PSG Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
